Deborah Marlene's Fine Art Debbie was born in the Central Valley of California and spent many years traveling with her family to the Mountains of Tuolumne County. As a child she dreamed of living in the mountains and waking each day to its beauty. She moved to Calaveras County nearly 10 years ago and now calls Arnold her home. Debbie's love of art began at a very early age. She began painting acrylics in 1967 at a Saturday Class, for gifted students. In High School, she began oil painting, as a Junior she did her first commissioned piece. Debbie did not pursue art for awhile after High School. I did manage one nighttime oil painting class in about 1992, at Yuba College, in Woodland, CA. It wasn't until 1997 that she seriously began studying watercolor painting. She studied with Lura Francis of Murphys, CA for 3 years. Debbie was also privileged to travel twice to France for painting trips with Lura and other artist friends. We have many talented artists in our area and I have taken workshops from Carolyn Macpherson, Dale Laitenin and Mike Bailey. I do not think you can ever learn enough when it comes to the medium of watercolor.

Specialty painting in homes and businesses has also been one of her pursuits. It is so gratifying to change the whole look and feeling of rooms with faux paintings and murals. Debbie's art has been accepted and shown at the Gallo Show in Modesto as well as Ironstone Vineyards Spring Symphony show. Debbie is currently the Vice-President of the Arts of Bear Valley, She exhibits in all of their venues, as well as at Blooms & Things, a flower shop in Arnold she has prints available at the Piazza in Murphys and recently began showing her art at Brooks Framing & Art in Sonora, CA. Art is my life, and I never wish to retire from painting.
